This project is a compilation of the work done by the Mapuche printmaker and artist Santos Chavez. I was the art director and was also involved in the production process.
Since the editors mentioned it was hard to classify the artworks into time periods, I decided to group them by the different pictorial themes. And, in order to create chapters between them, we used Santos Chavez quotes on colors that matched some of the pieces. This idea gave structure to the book and created a particular rhythm.
We also had access to personal photos of the artist taken by him and his wife Eva Chavez that were archived on the Santos Chavez Foundation in Viña del Mar (Chile). This opportunity gave me the possibility of explore their life and showcase some particular moments.
